PTO Meeting THIS THURSDAY

Thursday, January 14th 6:30pm-7:30pm in the library

Our next meeting will be a productive one - please invite fellow parents to come along and/or send out a quick reminder email about our upcoming meeting. We try and make these meetings very productive and are adamant that we end on time!

In the November newsletter Principal Nacke shared this:
"As our young people at Pueblo work to achieve their goals, I would like to bring forward some worrisome information that can negatively affect our kids’ future.

  • This generation of kids is the first generation whose life expectancy is shorter than their parents.
  • 83% of Arizona teens do not eat the recommended 5 servings of fruits and/or vegetables daily.
  • Arizona teens watch an average of 3 hours of TV on a school day or are on the computer at least 3 hours a day outside of school.
  • 68% of Arizona teens do not get the recommended 60 minutes of daily exercise.
  • 12% of Arizona teens are obese and that number continues to rise"

When I saw that first item on the list - I was devastated! In lieu of that information and the renewed sense of motivation that comes with the new year, we have decided to focus this month's PTO meeting on Keeping our Kids Healthy. We will have a great opportunity to hear from certified fitness & registered Yoga instructor Julia Pearl (www.fitnesswithjulia.com). Kick-off the new year by learning some empowering tips for developing more healthy exercise & nutrition habits for your kids.

WE WANT FREE MONEY & NEED YOUR HELP!

We are collecting Box Tops! Check the coupons that come with your receipts at Albertsons – they are giving away bonus Box Tops when you purchase qualifying items (including GM cereal!), and cut them from your cereal boxes, Pillsbury cans, Toaster Strudel boxes, etc. Send them in to your child’s teacher – they will get them to us!

A new program is being launched for Campbell’s Soup Labels! New products are being added and you can sign up to AUTOMATICALLY send credit to Pueblo at Frys and Safeway (coming soon). More information will be sent home as we receive it!
